Known for his sheer pace and aggressive driving skills , Kimi Raikkonen hails from the Scandinavian country of Finland. Aged 16, he won the National Karting series and went on to reap success in Finnish Championship,Monaco cup and the prestigious Nordic Championship. Victory belongs to the most persevering and kimi proved it by entering formula1 at the age of 20. His successful stint as a test driver for sauber in 2000 earned him a seat for race sundays ,the following year. He drove for sauber and a very few realized the true potential of this prodigy.
Despite the FIA being reluctant to issue the super licence for racing because of his inexperience in Formula 3000, one man who did realize kimi's passion was Ron Dennis .Those 9 points he earned in 2001 furnished way for  a driver's seat in a Mclaren for 2002 and this partnership extended till 2006. His Mclaren stint earned him a status of a potential champion but the iceman was never able  to claim the driver's title. He was a sniff away in 2003 when he gave the legend, Michael Schumacher , a run for his championship. He lost the drivers crown by a solitary point.
Kimi has come a long way since then and is now defending the drivers championship . As formula1 went hollow with the retirement of Michael, Kimi was imposed with the duty of bringing back the title to the Marnello outfit. The red blazers suited raikkonen well, as he went on to win the Australian Grand Prix in his first ever grand prix for Ferrari. However his mid season collapse saw him trail the leaders by 25 points. His perseverance paid off as he closed in the gap to just 7 points to the mclaren drivers. A three way battle for the championship was on while the Mclaren drivers counted the chickens before they actually hatched. Kimi was crowned the champion in a dramatic season ending Brazilian grand prix .
Famous for his ill luck, kimi has had 39 retirements in 123 starts which contributes to his lack of race wins. Despite this 31% reitrements , his passion for driving has never gone down. How many times have we seen the iceman park his car and walk out as the other cars continued racing? Some started questioning his committment while some started to critique his driving skills. Enough is enough as the iceman walked out of the Mclaren and his latest term with ferrari proved his true potential.
His indifferent attitude and his lack of friends in the formula1 frame has always been under the scanner . Not such a media friendly driver , Raikkonen knows how to handle fame and how to handle pressure. Be it victory , be it defeat , the iceman takes them with the same hands. "The superior man is modest in his speech , but exceeds in his actions", a very famous quote that best describes this champion. Having gone through a lot of ups and downs in his illustrious career , Kimi has finally found his right set up at Ferrari. He is now hunting down his championship rivals in the right car and at the right time.
The drivers championship in 2007 came at the right time for kimi as his passion for the sport was on the decline. He is now a rejuvenated individulal and those retirement rumours, which threatened to blow up his career, looks to have subsided. His pace on the track can never be matched by any of the current drivers and kimi looks all set to defend his title. That shaken champagne is all that kimi needs to be motivated, be it on the track or off it. I think a hero is an ordinary indvidual who finds strength to persevere and endure inspite of overwhelming obstacles and kimi is definately one. Hail the king! Hail Kimi!!!!!

Increasing Net Speed

Hi below r some useful stuff to boost ur net speed.

Increasing Band-Width By 20%

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc
To get it back:
Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

Speed Up Browsing By DNS Cache

Each time you browse a web site on the internet, the actual site name you type is resolved to an IP address. This translation is effected through what is called the DNS (Domain Name System). This DNS information is stored in your computer so that each time you type a web address , a record of its IP address is stored so that it can be recalled later without having to retrieve it again. One way to speed up your browsing experience is to increase this DNS cache in windows XP. You will need to modify registry for this.Start notepad & enter the following text into it:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ServicesDnscache\Parameters]
"CacheHashTableBucketSize"=dword:00000001"CacheHashTableSize"=dword:00000180
"MaxCacheEntryTtILimit"=dword:0000fa00
"MaxSOACacheEntryTtILimit"=dword:0000012d
Save this file, naming it dnscache.reg . Double click on the file in windows explorer & merge it into your registry.

Thumbelina - World's smallest horse

My first post - Dedicated to the mysteries of Universe and Nature.

Browsing the web, I came across a cute 'Dwarf Miniature Horse' named Thumbelina.
She stands 17 inches tall and weighs 26 kg.

Thumbelina received the 'World's smallest horse' title from Guinness Book of World Records.
This little lady is owned by Kay Goessling who owns the 'Goose Creek Farms' which breeds Dwarf Miniature Horses for more than 15 years.

In 2007, the Goose Creek Farms took Thumbelina to tour the U.S. raising funds for children around the world.
Kids all around the country flocked to see this tiny friend who made them smile, take photographs and spend a happy time. She is very precious to them.

I have seen children collecting funds for animals - but an animal collecting funds for children is a lesson life has taught me.

THE I-MAN CLINCHES A THRILLER

A DAY TO REMEMBER

words cant describe the pain we went through on this day. As we waited eagerly for the match to end, every minute seemed to be an year. The simple equation that i told you (lee should not take more than two wickets) turned quadratic as Lee scalped Dhoni and Laxman in no time. We were quite sure of winning till 11'o clock and the wicket of dhoni turned it around. all eyes on the mobile as we watched the score tick. as per calculations , my friend needed anil kumble to score more than 7 runs , which eventually turned out to be the decisive winner. Yes the ipod man ,oops, sorry he has transformed it into the I-MAN , sagar went on to win the Ipod but only after a little bit of confusion in scoring. after the match was over, we started our calculations . Sagar was tensed(quite obviously) and ended up on a wrong score which projected as though he was going to lose. But myself and siddharth(also known as pilot) clarified the situation(a maiden over confusion) . several phone calls confirmed his victory and the 160 gb ipod is on its way . although we feel sorry for the second placed man who lost it just by a mere 2 points, we had a great time today celebrating our friend's victory. The celebrations will go on for a week and we hope more things come our way......

THE IPOD MAN

Sagar . P. Modi , the IPOD man

It all started as a friendly battle between me and my friend Sagar(in photo) during the india pakistan one test series in 2007. we have played nearly 8 series till date. Am talking about the Cricinfo fantasy league, similar to espn super selector. now here he is looking to win the overall prize for the india australia test series , a nice cool 160 GB ipod classic. the results will be out tomorrow when the 5th day of the final test match gets over. he is leading by a strong 103 points but the second placed team also has a good chance of winning it. to make the equation simple , my friend can win if Brett Lee does not take more than two wickets. hope the indians play him well. sagar has promised a 1000 rupee treat if he wins it and we all hope it does happen.
A football freak , sagar hails from Gujarat. his hometown is Salem and right now he is living in Chennai. The big man is known for his passion for the game of football and is a die hard fan of Arsenal FC(he doesn't come to college if arsenal lose and that is why he has a poor attendance record) . We all love his company and has an equal degree of temperament and temper. he has an intimidating look(u must have seen it yourself from the photo) and has a tendency to get angry easily. however only two us in our class has the guts to face him(myself and my Guru Rajasekhar) and we love to play with his temper. to finish it off in one sentence , sagar is truly a great friend to hang out with and we are having a great time with this fellow in our college....

5th semester results

D-DAY

It was a typical Anna University result publishing way.No prior announcement and the dreaded thing was out by 7.05 P.M. the last two weeks of January, the first week of February and the first two weeks of August are always the most feared times of an year for all college students. Rumours are even more threatening than the actual results. This time around, the number of rumours were slightly less as compared to last year.
we always had the instincts that the results would be out this weekend. It was confirmed by my classmate Vignesh(nicknamed SV) as he called the University officials. The websites , today morning , released the most familiar message for all students, "results will be available soon". for any student , the day will not be normal, and the same here. i had a look at the website every 10 mins , and my mantra was "F5" on the keyboard. i did this from 4 o clock till 6:30 P.M. two of my mates , Rajashekar and Ram kumar , came to my house. we were waiting for the inevitable to happen, but it didnt. just 300 seconds after they left, the results were published and i came to know it through them.
Pretty much a happy ending to the horrible story although the scores were average. However , it was the same old story about Anna University . "THE MOST PREDICTABLE ASPECT OF THEIR CORRECTION IS THEIR UNPREDICTABILITY". i am certain many will agree with this....

AUSTRALIAN OPEN WOMEN'S FINAL

A GLAMOROUS BATTLE

The final was a classic example of some ferocious power hitting by the Russian Maria Sharapova . The battle of the glamour girls did not live up to to the expectations but Ivanovic did well to stretch the Russian for over 30 mins in the first set. The 5th game of the match saw the Russian break ivanovic's serve for the first time. Maria was leading 4-3 , when the mini fight back began. Ivanovic won her first point on Sharapova's serve in the 8th game of the match and crucial break point in the same game made ivanovic equal 4-4, thanks to two double faults and an unforced error from the Russain. What looked like a 30 minute first set , now shaped up to be a marathon. But Sharapova had other ideas . she nailed it in the 11th game breaking Ivanovic's serve and winning the set 7-5 taking 49 mins to seal it.

The second set was no different for ivanovic as the task at hand looked daunting. very soon, Maria was serving for the championship at 5-3 and the inevitable happened immediately. Sharapova won the match 7-5 6-3 and the sight at the centre court soon became emotional..

Two contrasting features of life, as both players broke into tears soon after the match, but for the opposite reasons. Sharapova dedicated the victory to her coach's late mother Jane Joyce. So, the Australian open welcomes yet another new champion this year and looks like the Russian sensation is waiting for more to come her way , this year.....

AUSTRALIAN OPEN day 13

day 13 . well, 13th ,a Friday. the omen just wasn't right for Mr.Federer as he went out to play the ever energetic and fun loving Novak Djokovic. ebbing with energy , novak comprehensively won the first three games of the first set. however federer broke him for the first time in the match which ended being the last of the match. novak broke back in the tenth game making it even at 5-5. djokovic broke again wining the first set 7-5.

It was Novak all the way in the 2nd set as federer felt the heat for the second time in the tournament , after that 3rd round match with tipsarevic. The final set went well for the world number 1, but the tie breaker maestro failed when it was most wanted . Djoker ,as he is called, won the match 7-5,6-3, 7-6. don believe your eyes.? here it is again 7-5,6-3,7-6. its going to be a long year for all federer fanatics as they are forced to wait for that elusive "GRAND SLAM". all they could hope for is that french open crown that has evaded federer for six years. it could be more than a consolation for all fans dejected by this shock defeat.

The post match conference saw Federer praise his semifinal opponent and wished him all success in the final against the big french man , Tsonga. A classic on the cards.other results of the day were

Bondarenko sisters won the championship beating Azarenka/peer 2-6,6-1,6-4
Sania/bhupathi beat dechy/ram 6-4,6-2 to reach the finals

TECHNICAL QUEST N ANS #!

1. If you are using C language to implement the heterogeneous linked list, what pointer type will you use?

The heterogeneous linked list contains different data types in its nodes and we need a link, pointer to connect them. It is not possible to use ordinary pointers for this. So we go for void pointer. Void pointer is capable of storing pointer to any type as it is a generic pointer type.

2.Minimum number of queues needed to implement the priority queue?

Two. One queue is used for actual storing of data and another for storing priorities.

3. What are the methods available in storing sequential files ?
  •  Straight merging,
  •  Natural merging,
  •  Polyphase sort,
  •  Distribution of Initial runs

4. What is a spanning Tree?

A spanning tree is a tree associated with a network. All the nodes of the graph appear on the tree once. A minimum spanning tree is a spanning tree organized so that the total edge weight between nodes is minimized.

5. Does the minimum spanning tree of a graph give the shortest distance between any 2 specified nodes?

No.
Minimal spanning tree assures that the total weight of the tree is kept at its minimum. But it doesn’t mean that the distance between any two nodes involved in the minimum-spanning tree is minimum.

ON TWIN TOWER BLASTS

Version #1
"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, two brothers torn apart by chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb. The third big war will begin when the big city is burning on the 11th day of the 9 month that...two metal birds would crash into two tall statues in the new city and the world will end soon after" - Nostradamus 1654
The flights that were Highjacked were from United and AA, they were numbered as follows:
11, 93, 175, and

7711 = Today's Date

9+3 = 12 = Tomorrow

1+7+5 = 13 = Thursday

7+7 = 14 = Friday
Hopefully this is a coincidence and the terrorists can't add. but if this is correct there will either be acts of terrorism every day for the next few days or a grand event the last day. pass it around .

Version #2
Subject: Nostradamus
Century 6, Quatrain 97
Two steel birds will fall from the sky on the Metropolis. The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude. Fire approaches the great new city
[New York City lies between 40-45 degrees]

AUSTRALIA INDIA DAY 2

AUSTRALIA - INDIA DAY 2

The day belonged to India as the visitors manged to pile up a mammoth total of 526. thanks to the spin twins . the duo added 107 runs for the 8th wicket. earlier , the maestro continued his flawless show ,piling another 39 runs to his overnight score. he ended his innings on 153, after a knee breaking bouncer from lethal lee. the bouncer slid to his inner left knee which required medical attention. Relentless sachin went after another bouncer , the very next ball, only to find the ball in Hogg's hands. The little master bid adieu to the Bradman land, his penultimate innings down under.

The departure of sachin , meant the tail was exposed to the destructive Australian pace. The turbanator has different ideas though. Harbhajan came out with all guns blazing and plundered the Australian attack. He scored a scintillating half century and was finally out for 63. the tail continued to wag and the Indians finished at 526. The final 21 overs belonged to the home side as they ended the day without any casualties. they were 62 for no loss , as the day came to a close. day 3 has a lot in store for both nations ,as the Australians look to close in on the Indian total and India look to equal the series with some quality bowling.

india vs australia DAY 1 4th test

india vs australia DAY 1 4th test

one word. GENIUS WAS AT WORK. the entire day belonged to the little master , as he once again proved why he is the most dreaded batsman in the world. the hero of the sydney test , accumulated an unbeaten 124 in just two sessions . Sachin waited for 19 balls before opening his account as he wacked lee for a trademark sachin straight drive. he scored his 39th ton off a boundary after springing up to 98 from 92 .
The other stars of the day included sehwag and laxman, each piling half centuries before getting out to Lee. Lee and Johnson took two wickets each and Hogg picked Ganguly for 7 given out LBW , another dubious decision. India took the first day honours as Sachin and Dhoni look to consolidate the strong platform created. an interesting day in the offing

JO-WILFRIED TSONGA

Day 12 saw the birth of a new star. well, probably not...the star was born in the first round itself, when he ousted Andy Murray in a tight 4 setter. however it was this day , day 12 of the aus. open, that really marked the entry of Jo Wilfried Tsonga.

The 22 year old french man demolished the 21 year old Spaniard Rafael Nadal ,a legend in his own ways, in straight sets 6-2, 6-3,6-2. The so called , Federer's nemesis, Rafa was not given a speck of a chance by the French man. He was too hot to handle ans so were his aces . His 17 aces in the match meant he pipped Roger Federer to take a provisional lead in the Ace leaders list.

Another interesting info about this man . Tsonga was ranked no 212 at the end of 2006 and climbed to 49th by the end of 2007. All this could mean just one thing. Be it Tsonga or Roger or Djokovic , whoever wins the tournament , the Australian Open 2008 will be remenbered for one courageous wild card entry, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

ROGERZ ERA NOT OVER

well, the ongoing australian open has been a roller coaster ride for the world number 1, ROGER FEDERER. From a cake walk to a heart breaking 5 setter , the numero UNO has seen quite a lot this tournament.

The Alpine craftsman was pretty much thrown out of the tournament by the serb Janko Tipsarevic in an enthralling third round match up. Roger was back in his vintage best in the 4th hour of the match , in the 17th game of the decider. He roared back from a 0-40 deficit to break the game and snatch the match from the serb.

If the results are anything to go by, then not even the wildest of critics would call it the end of the federer era. The man is still in prime form and all that could be said is "miles to go" before this sporting phenom hangs up his boots....

KUMBLE - A DOUGHTY FIGHTER

All of us knew that Sydney test was a the most stupidest of the test matches in the history of World Cricket. The comments given by players like Michael Clarke, Ponting regarding that match was nothing but  absurdity .

But Kumble kept his cool and dint react much to the then situation .

If Aussies had suffered the same kinda defeat in India, they wld have flewn to Australia the next day. But our guys did not do such things, its because of our culture that has made them stay there and fight their way back into the light.

Kumble and his boys showed it in the next match at Perth , considered to be the world's fastest pitch. Ponting once pointed at Indians and said, they hav very good chances to win at
Sydney and at Adelaide and not on Perth. His statement was proven wrong by our guys.

Now, what Ponting says is -"I've misread the pitch!!!"

I strongly recommend him to wear spectacles when analysing pitch. . . . . .
